The Croods Review
DreamWorks’ The Croods was a is a hysterical adventure that every family will enjoy! The Croods takes you on a new exciting journey by introducing you to a new world with unlimited possibilities.
This movie was particularly enjoyable because DreamWorks was working with a blank canvas. This story was original and new to the animation world. It wasn’t a movie about bugs, cars, or every other subject matter that most movie lovers are familiar with. The anticipation of a great new movie is an awesome feeling. Going to watch a movie and not knowing what to expect is as good as it gets. The Croods keeps you on the edge of your seat hopelessly predicting what will come next (which is a good thing ).
The characters were well thought out and all complement each other well. Each individual was funny in their own way and their personalities were well built and easy to connect to on a personal level.
You’re sure to recognize some familiar voices along the way as well. The voice talent includes Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, and Chris Sanders to name a few. They all did a professional job and fit well with their characters while their familiar voices didn’t distract from the bigger story.
Guy: I’m calling it “the end”.
The story of The Croods was inventive and funny. When stories explore new worlds the opportunities are limitless. Although DreamWorks had a blank slate to work with they kept the story short and sweet. The story felt similar to the Ice Age movies. The world is ending or greatly changing and we need to run for safety.
The only downside to the story was how dumbed down the caveman Croods were. In my opinion it went a little overboard when Grug claimed to have a life altering experience because he had an “idea.” They played up his stupidity a bit too much during that sequence. Even though, I wouldn’t mind seeing The Croods again.
This animation film felt like an “intro” movie to a Croods series. Now that we have met the family and enjoyed their humorous stories there will likely be additional Croods adventures to come.
If there are more of The Croods to come in the future then I say, “Bring em on!” I enjoyed the beautiful colors and art work that made up their new world. The colors were bold and we saw creatures that only ones imagination could conjure up. The stunning photos will capture your imagination like Rio or Finding Nemo.
If you get the chance then see this movie in 3D. This movie was intended for 3D and it did not disappoint. The theater is probably your best shot at seeing a great 3D picture.
This movie will have you laughing from scene 1. The Croods adventure is rolled up in comedy and suspense! You’ll be on the edge of your seat with anticipation one moment and roaring with laughter the next.
This adventure is rated 7.5 stars out of 10.

The Croods Apps and Extras
Did you try out the Croods apps on your iPhone or iPad? I discovered two apps in the Apple app store. The first is a Croods game and the second is a Croods photo app.
The game is alright but not my type of game. In the game you have the Croods build homes, traps, and harvest food. As the game progresses your homes, traps, and harvesting opportunities continue to grow and develop. This is similar to games where you build towns or communities into great cities.
The photo app is a fun “put your face on a character” game. After you choose your favorite character you can use an existing photo or take on on the spot. Then you can choose the background, skin tone, and color of your hair.
